Welcome!

Welcome to Ella's blog! Since it's hard to stay in touch with everyone on a regular basis, and with family out of state, I wanted to have a place where everyone could go to for Ella updates. I'm new to the blogging world so hopefully this works out as well as the idea sounds! I'll try to add regular updates, pictures and video of Ella so everyone can watch her grow. Enjoy!

Neglected Blog

Well I sure haven't done a very good job keeping this blog updated!  I was going to just let it go, but I have become addicted to reading other people's blogs and I think they are such a good way of keeping track of how much life changes from day to day. A lot of people use their blog as a type of baby book and I really like the idea of Ella being able to read this one day. I'm really going to try to post every couple of weeks from now on. So much has happened since my last post so I'll just give a run down of the latest Tate news.

Ella is growing like crazy and changing so much every day.  She is now four months and three weeks old.  Her last doctors appointment was on April 29th for her four month check up and the doctor said she is perfect. She weighs 12 pounds 11 ounces and 25 inches long.  She is a long and lean peanut!

Ella still hates tummy time but she figured out that she can rollover now so when I do put her on her tummy she rolls right over then looks at me and smiles.  She rolls from her back to her tummy too, but when she does that she just screams.  I keep telling her she's never going to crawl if she doesn't spend some time on her belly.

She started eating solids after her four month appointment.  I thought it might be a little early but I tried it and she had no problem using a spoon so she has baby food everyday now.  She has tried sweet potatoes, pears, peas and bananas.  So far she hates peas and loves bananas.  She makes the funniest faces when she eats so dinner time is usually pretty entertaining.

That's the latest with Miss Ella, she is changing constantly! Her personality has really started to show now, she loves to smile and laugh, when she is happy she makes everyone else happy but when she's mad she is MAD!

I'll try to add another post today or tomorrow with some recent pictures and video. Hopefully, my new found motivation for blogging will stick around for a while.

She's growing so fast!

Ella will be five weeks tomorrow and she is growing way too fast! It seems like she changes each and every day but continues to be a perfect baby girl.

A lot has changed since the last post. She now enjoys taking baths!! Instead of making her mad it actually calms her down and she only cries when it is time to get out.  She's still not a big fan of taking her clothes off or diaper changes but we will take things one step at a time.

She is sleeping about four hours at a time at night, usually waking up at 4 a.m. for a bottle and a new diaper then goes right back to sleep on her own until 8 or 9.  We haven't moved her to her own room yet, I keep saying I have to get a baby monitor first but I'm really just not ready for her to be so far away!

We have taken her on a few outings so far and she has been a total trooper.  Of course we have been to Target (her favorite store) and out to eat a couple times.  She falls right to sleep in the car and she sleeps great in her stroller as long as you don't stop moving it.

She's finally starting to grow into her clothes which means she can actually wear pants instead of leg warmers every day.  Some things still fall off of her but she definitely has more of a wardrobe selection these days!

2 Weeks and 1 Day

Today Ella is 2 weeks and 1 day old.  She had her two week check up yesterday which was a pretty stressful outing for everyone involved.  Ella hates having her clothes off so that wasn't fun, she hated getting measured and weighed (she's up to 7 pounds now), she wasn't too fond of the doctor and she let him know she wasn't and when it came to getting her blood taken she let out the loudest, hold your breath for five seconds scream we have ever heard from her.  Bart and I left the doctor's office traumatized but Ella was asleep before we put her in the car.

Since I'm two weeks behind on starting this blog I figured I would just share some of the things we've learned about Miss Ella Claire so far.

Ella's Likes:
* Sleeping on Mom and Dad's chest
* Her brother Ace . . . even when he's licking her toes
* Leg warmers
* Eating, eating and more eating
* Taking pictures . . . if she's sleeping and has a heater or blow dryer keeping her warm

Ella's Dislikes:
* Diaper changes
* Taking off her clothes

Ella's Strong Dislikes:
* BATHS

Ella's story . . .

Since this is my first post I thought I would start from the beginning.  As you all know, Ella was born on December 28, 2010, we like to think of her as being fiscally responsible from day one.  She arrived screaming her head off at 11:28 a.m. weighing in at 6 pounds 10 ounces and 20 inches long.  From the minute we saw her Bart and I stared at her in awe as we quickly realized that we had just experienced the most amazing, terrifying, exhausting, beautiful moments of our lives.  Our lives changed in a matter of seconds and we couldn't be more proud of the baby girl that was just born.
